A French hypermarket is more than a quick grocery stop. Between delicatessen counters, bakery, drugstore shelves, kitchenware and surprisingly affordable non-food sections, there are many things that are difficult to find elsewhere in quite the same way.

Baguette, croissants and pain au chocolat almost belong by default. Bonne Maman, crème de marrons, lavender honey, LU/BN biscuits and madeleines make very reliable take-home finds.
Fleur de sel, herbes de Provence, Dijon mustard, tapenade, aioli and confit de canard are small things with a lot of French everyday character.
